Production Diary 1

Day 1: 09/09/2011
Today in media we experienced our first problem which was internet failure, due to this we watched and analysed previous videos that were made by year 13 students in 2008. In video one it was a performance and narrative our review on this was that it was to cheesy due to the fact it was a love based storyline in which it was performed poorly and to add there were various random scenes which were out of place and didn’t fit in with the type of video we were creating. The second video we viewed was a concept based video it was all videoed in London in which the majority of the shots were sped up. We felt it was a good video because it matched the song well and was different to all the others we had seen. One of the videos we watched was probably the worst out of them all purely because it bored us by the “cheesy” storyline and the choice of locations. They hadn’t been very creative and stuck to filming most of their music video in a school, providing a very dull and boring location. After watching few of the videos we decided we want to try and be a bit more different and inventive in where we choose to film but also considering having a more unique storyline than same boring love story.
The other thing we did this lesson was to produce a chart of all the free periods we have, with this information it shows us how much time we have to work on our video in school. The days highlighted in the red are the periods which we have as frees, by looking at the table it shows week B is one of the weeks we are going to try and do as much filming as possible. We are also going to try and do some work on the weekends however I work on the Saturday and Mike has football on the Sunday.
