Kanye West music video notes

Kanye West- All Falls Down

Type of video:
-The video is a mostly narrative as it is about Kanye accompanying his girlfriend to the airport to catch her flight.
It is shot in a 1st person as we take the view as Kanye West
-
There is also some performance in the video where he looks into his reflections and the audience can see him singing.

How the band/artist are represented:
-
The audience doesn’t see much of the artist but when he looks in to his reflection we see him sing for a while so the audience can see him singing.

Mise en scene:
-The main characters are all dressed very casual
-All the lighting is made very natural so it is more realistic
-Through the video there are two main characters, Kanye West and his girlfriend however there are lots of other characters in the airport
-Some of the props he uses are quite significant to what his singing e.g. when he mentions about his watches he then holds one up to look at the time
-The setting is in the airport

Editing:
-
The pace is quite fast through the video then in certain places they use slow motion

Camera:
-
The camera is very unusual for a music video they have used a 1st person view so we can see what is happening through Kanye West’s view.
-It come out of 1st person once through the video which is where he goes through the xray machine and we can see his skeleton singing and dancing.
