Risk Assesment

This is the risk assessment that we created in one of our lessons, we had to make this before we went out to film to identify any potential hazards and what safety precautions we would take to keep ourselves safe.

Day 20: 30/11/2011

Today we went off to Hampstead Heath, Parliament Hill to start filming. The filming seemed to go really well and we got plenty of footage that we are going to take back to school to edit.

Day 19: 29/11/2011

In the lesson today we all sat round in a group and planned the shots we were going to film. We decided we would film the view of London for about an hour and then after quickly film some of the character on the bench drunk. We also had an idea of filming him falling over and stubling around, as well as this we videoed the character looking over a bridge with a bottle of beer and then dropping it in the river.

Parliament Hill

This is the map of the park we are going to be filming one of our scenes. We found a photo like this so we have a rough idea of where to head for, we want to hopefully go to the bit of green up the hill from the runnining track. Using this we hopefully give us some sense of direction to where we should be heading.

Day 18: 24/11/2011

Today we decided to begin filming our music video, we had to film in rush hour so I went and met Sarah reasonable early. We had to try and film with her holding the camera behind me making it look as if it was 1st person. When we got back to school we looked at some of our footage and realised that the way it had been filmed didn't work that well so we were going to need to try a different method. Me and Sarah then looked at a couple of different ways to film first person.
We also decided that our story needed some changing so we sat down and brainstormed a few ideas which we would add to our video. Briefly this is what we decided on doing:
-Begins with a shot of a man sitting on the bench at the top of Parliament Hill holding an empty bottle of alcohol. (This will probably be the only time you see the character)
-The story then rewinds back to the morning with the sound of an alarm going off (the camera has now changed to first person). The camera giving the feel to the audience it is his eyes looks at the clock to reviel the time and then we see a hand turn the alarm off. The alarm then goes off again showing the audience he has fallen asleep and now is late for work.
-He runs down the stairs still putting some clothes on and we then see his wife who starts shouting at him and throws him some letters showing they haven't paid bills and are in debt. The character doesn't have the time to talk so walks straight passed her and out the door.
-He gets in his car and begins his journey to work in which he spills tea down his shirt and also gets stuck in traffic.
-When his at work an email comes up on his computer from the boss telling him to get in his office, when he goes in his office he gets fired from his job.
- As he walks out the work building he meets his wife in a nearby cafe in whcih she passes him the wedding ring and indicates she wants a divorce.
-He walks into a liquor store where things then change for him as he bus a bottle of alcohol, things then change within the filming as we get straight cuts of him falling over, getting mugged, being sick etc.
-The last shot is then the same one as the first.

Day 17: 23/11/2011

Due to the reason we weren't 100% sure with our idea we decided to try and look at some current music videos that had been shot in 1st person for some ideas and inspirtation. The video we found very useful for ideas was Cinnamon Chasers- Luv Deluxe.

After watching the video we decided that we are going to go into more detail about the story and use quicker cuts and graphic matches, different than what we were originally thinking. We also decided to pack the video with a bit more action than previously thought of, this would keep the audience more entertained and interested but it will make them watch it more as on the first or even second time there will still be things going on that they might not of originally seen.

When we decided most of it was going to be filmed in first person we had to try and find a way to hold the camera to make it look like it was being viewed out of the persons eyes. We found and tried some different ideas, one being straping it to the side of my head but it wasn't very stable and the camera kept falling off. Luckily we found a video someone had made on youtube which we decided to use.

This was a picture of us trying trying our own way of making a first person POV camera. Unfortunately it didn't work very well so we had to re think it.

We found this video which when we tried the idea out it worked really well.

Day 16: 22/11/2011

After failing to film on the 18th we decided on the 30th of November, due to the reason the teachers were on strike and we didn't have many lessons. We arranged when we were going to meet which was at Liverpool Street at 11:30. We also looked at the weather forecast for that day and the times we would be there throughout the filming period.

When we looked at the times we found that a period of time we would be filming on would be good weather, however at 3:20PM it would start to rain so we needed to stick to the time accurately.

Day 15: 18/11/2011

Today was a bit of a failure for the filming, we were meant to go filming at Parliament Hill but we didn't end up going in the end due to several reasons one being some people had made committments for other things. As well as this the group weren't that confident on the idea we came up with which was another reason we decided not to film.
